Overview

In EntreCultures 3 Companion Reader Edition, we present rigorous tasks that hone learners’ skills. Your learners will have the opportunity to engage with authentic texts and literature, experience IPAs with all modes of communication, reflect on the knowledge they have learned, interact with students from different francophone countries, and more, all while encompassing elements of AP® skills.

EntreCultures 3

The standards-based EntreCultures program teaches French language and francophone cultures to novice through intermediate learners through interculturality. Students interact with a variety of perspectives by exploring the lives of teens across the francophone world and engaging with authentic resources.

In EntreCultures 3 Companion Reader Edition challenges learners to enhance their skills, including elements of AP® skills. It encourages engagement with authentic texts and literature and helps learners build language skills in all communication modes and cultural proficiency.

Included in the EntreCultures 3 Companion Reader Edition is the comprehensible input reader, Le Vol des Oiseaux. This reader integrates high-frequency language structures into a compelling story, providing repeated exposure to language structures for upper-level language students, and aiding them in progressing beyond typical proficiency levels.

Fifteen-year-old Nathalie Gauthier had reservations about her father’s new job in Africa, but little did she know that missing her home and her friends would be the least of her worries. She finds herself in the middle of an illegal bird-trading scheme, and it is a race against time for her father to save her and the treasured African Greys.
Le Vol des Oiseaux was written to pair with EntreCultures 3 and targets the Novice Mid to Novice High proficiency range.

Each teacher edition of EntreCultures provides guidance in incorporating proficiency-based instruction in your classroom, provides ample tips and ideas throughout each unit, and includes a helpful section on teaching strategies.
The EntreCultures series leads with AP^® and IB themes. Teacher resources in the front and end matter of the Teacher Edition outline AP^® and IB themes and subthemes, so you can start your learners on the right foot.
The EntreCultures series is full of unit-aligned authentic resources from more than thirty Francophone cultures around the world, like podcasts, news stations, video bloggers, and more.
The U.S.-based authors of EntreCultures, all educators and leaders in the field, considered a variety of learner and educator styles in the backward design of the series.
Assignable Can-Do statements in each unit of EntreCultures 3 show learners a direct connection between tasks and what they are aiming to be able to do in French. Learners can upload completed Can-Do assignments to their student portfolios to show growth, and when it is time to evaluate their learning, students can complete performance-based formative and summative assessments.

Tracking Their Own Progress

Online student portfolios follow learners from unit to unit, level to level. Students can upload evidence of what they can do in the language - assigned Can-Do statements, activities, quizzes, audio files, PowerPoint and Word files, and more. This allows them to set goals and reflect on their progress related to Can-Do Statements.

Efficient, Integrated Grading

Use the online calendar to remind students of upcoming assignments and deadlines, assign tasks to specific learners or an entire class, and more. Explorer^® lets you know when your students complete their work and alerts students as soon as you’ve graded. Grade each quiz question response without opening each question in Explorer^®. Automatic grading is available where appropriate.
