Abby Kanter holds a bachelor's degree from Smith College and a MAT from Fairleigh Dickenson University. She teaches Spanish at Dwight-Englewood School in New Jersey.

In addition to joining the Wayside Publishing author team for Azulejo, along with María Colbert, James Ryan, and Marian Sugano, Kanter is the author of multiple other texts for world language classrooms: Encuentros maravillosos, La gran aventura de Alejandro, Viviana y su gran aventura mexicana, Leer y charlar, and a scholarly edition of García Márquez's Crónica de una muerte anunciada.
