Catherine Edgington

About

Catherine Edgington holds a BA in German literature from Kenyon College and an MA in German from Bowling Green State University (BGSU). Her love of the language and culture developed during her time in Salzburg, Austria where she finished her Masters and taught English through a Fulbright scholarship before beginning her career.

Prior to her career as a high school teacher, Catherine taught German adult education, English as a Second Language, and accent modification in the private sector before starting her career in the public school system in 1996 where she has been thriving ever since.

Currently, Catherine leads a German program in the Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) system and provides authentic resources in a classroom with a focus on experiential learning with high student ownership of proficiency growth. She is known for bringing the learning outside the classroom through a German Exchange Program and countless projects inviting students and teachers of all disciplines to engage with German language and culture. She spent several years as a curriculum leader for the LCPS World Language department and brings her expertise to Wayside.

Catherine has been an integral part of the author team for InterKulturell 2 along with lead Cynthia Chalupa, Robert Parker and Michaela Claus-Nix.

She is hopeful that InterKulturell 2 enables students to feel confident in their language proficiency by developing their desire to persevere throughout their educational journey.
