Kate Sanders

About

Kate Sanders has been an educator in Massachusetts for 20 years. She taught high school Spanish for 15 years and has held a variety of leadership roles, including positions in world language and ESL administration, instructional coaching, and service as both an Assistant Principal and New Teacher Mentor Coordinator. She was selected by her state and regional organizations, with support from ACTFL, to serve as a language advocate in Cohort 5 of the Leadership Initiative for Language Learning (LILL). Kate holds degrees in Spanish and Italian studies, as well as a Master’s in Educational Leadership and Administration.

Kate’s classroom practice has been grounded in proficiency-based pedagogy. As a certified music teacher, she intentionally incorporated music and other authentic resources to enhance student engagement and deepen language acquisition. She spent much of her teaching career in vocational-technical high schools, where she focused on helping students build confidence in real-world communication and recognize the practical value of language skills.

With a graduate certificate in Artificial Intelligence in the K–12 Classroom, Kate is passionate about meaningful technology integration. She thrives in supporting educators through professional development and has trained teachers to effectively integrate technology into world language instruction. Her love of languages has continued to grow over time, leading her to study Portuguese and French in addition to Spanish and Italian.
