La hija del sastre
Level 4 / Intermediate Low — Intermediate High
Growing up in a Republican family during Franco’s fascist rule of Spain, Emilia Matamoros discovers just how important keeping a secret can be. After her father, a former captain in the Republican army, goes into hiding, Emilia not only must work as a seamstress to support her family, but she must also guard a secret that will protect her father and save her family from certain death. Will her innocence be lost and will she succumb to the deceptive and violent tactics of Franco’s fascist regime?
This Comprehension-based™ reader, ‘La hija del Sastre’, strategically weaves high-level language structures into a compelling story, based on high-frequency vocabulary.
