About

Dr. Carolyn Taylor has been a passionate language educator for more than 30 years, serving in teaching and administrative roles across five U.S. states and seven countries. She has held leadership positions in several national, regional, and state language organizations—advocating for language programs, contributing to language education research, and supporting teachers in developing their professional practice.

She earned a doctorate in foreign language curriculum and instruction from Louisiana State University. Her dissertation, which explored the relationship between foreign language study and academic achievement, was selected as a finalist for the ACTFL Emma Marie Birkmaier Award for Doctoral Dissertation Research in World Language Education.

Dr. Taylor has taught French, English, and EFL in diverse secondary and postsecondary settings and has been a teacher educator. She served as Assistant Professor of Foreign Language Methods and Second Language Acquisition Theory at the University of Wyoming, where she also worked with the Wyoming Department of Education to lead the state's World Language Standards revision and curriculum development projects.

As state supervisor for world languages with the Louisiana Department of Education, she administered K–8 second language and immersion programs. In that role, she collaborated closely with educational liaisons from Belgium, France, Quebec, Canada, Mexico, and Spain on teacher recruitment, support, and ongoing professional development for foreign associate teachers.
