Our Language Labs offer participants the experience of observing a teacher who has mastered the art of Acquisition Driven Instruction (ADI). These master teachers will teach REAL students as they demonstrate ADI strategies and techniques that build community, elicit joy and foster language acquisition. Our language lab teachers will be demonstrating the use of Wayside Comprehension-based readers™ in their teaching!

Learn a new language with ADI in our German and Russian language classes

It is very powerful to actually experience being a student in a new language taught with ADI. Put yourself in a student’s shoes by learning German or Russian in an ADI setting with a master teacher. Not only will you walk away with practical language skills, but you will deeply feel the power of ADI. Improve your French or Spanish with our advanced level classes that implement ADI techniques

Research suggests that teacher self-efficacy, feeling confident about your skills and abilities, and teacher target language proficiency are linked (Chacon, 2005, Yilmaz, 2011, Kindt, 2021). Because ADI encourages consistent use of the target language by the teacher, boosting teacher language proficiency can improve a teacher’s self-efficacy and thus inspire the use of target language in the classroom, which is linked to student language proficiency (Vyn, Wesely, Neubauer, 2019). As ADI trainers, it is important to us that world language teachers have both the language and instructional skills they need to perform the techniques of ADI as well as the self-confidence in their abilities to continue. At Fluency Matters, we want to address the whole teacher by giving you opportunities to improve your target language proficiency and develop your ADI skills. Our language lab teachers will be demonstrating the use of Wayside Comprehension-based readers™ in their teaching!
